The Flag Research Center publishes the monograph series Studies in Flag History and Symbolism. This series meets a need in the humanities and social science literature for monograph-length works that both critically examine and deeply explore the usage of flags in political, social, cultural, and historical contexts. Titles in this series are:

• A History of Irish Flags from Earliest Times, Gerard Anthony Hayes-McCoy (1979)
• Canada’s Flag: A Search for a Country, John Ross Matheson (1980)
• The First American Flag: Revisiting the Grand Union on Prospect Hill, Byron DeLear (2018) (available for purchase here)

Critical editions of A History of Irish Flags and Canada’s Flag are being prepared by eminent vexillologists and will be published as part of the Center’s publishing program.
